Wetting of a timber structure may cause safety or durability problems. But we have insufficient data on the wetting and drying of timber in normal construction phase. For example we would like to know how deep moisture penetrates into wood during construction. How fast can it dry again and does this impact the quality or the long term durability of the structure? This field research will concentrate on measuring and gathering data of the moisture content of wood and searching for relations with weather conditions.
