Mass timber floors rely on additional mass layers for acoustic and vibration comfort. The mass layer can consist of gravel, sand-cement, aerated concrete, anhydrite or even loam. It is important to know how much water penetrates into the wooden floor when making one of these top layers and how this might influence either the quality or the long term durability of the structure. This will be an experimental research in which different samples will be made and tested.
